Editorial policy
How we produce, review and update our content
1. Editorial independence
Hipotecas.me is a mortgage portal: a comparison of mortgages from 40 banks, calculators and guides. If you want, we arrange your mortgage as a credit intermediary registered with the Bank of Spain (E569). Our editorial content is not influenced by commercial agreements with banks. Comparisons, rankings and recommendations are based solely on objective criteria: APR, conditions, suitability for each profile.
2. Sources
- Bank of Spain (BdE) for Euríbor data and macro statistics
- Spanish Ministry of Housing (MIVAU) for property prices
- National Statistics Institute (INE) for property price index (IPV)
- Direct, regularly updated information from each financial institution
- Spanish official legislation: LCCI 5/2019, Law 10/2010 (anti-money-laundering), and applicable taxation
3. Review process
Every piece of content goes through:
- Research from primary sources: Bank of Spain, INE, the Official State Gazette (BOE), the Ministry of Housing (MIVAU), the ECB and each bank's website
- Drafting: guides and pages are written by our editorial team. News articles and the monthly report are drafted with the help of automated tools from those data; figures are calculated beforehand from our sources, and an automated check discards any draft that breaks our rules (unsourced figures, broken links or claims we cannot support)
- Human review and approval: a member of our team reads every piece, checks figures, sources and links, and approves it before it is published. Nothing drafted with automated tools is published without that approval, including updates to articles already published
- Periodic updates: market data updated daily; legal/regulatory content updated when applicable
4. Authors and accountability
All articles are signed by the member of our team who is responsible for them. Editorial errors can be reported to redaccion@hipotecas.me. We reply within 24 business hours. If the error is confirmed, we publish the correction within 2 business days and update the page's last-modified date; when the error affects a figure or a conclusion, we say so on the page itself.
Note: the legally binding version of this editorial policy is the Spanish version.
